From leading on the SPEAK Act to fighting for financial empowerment, Evans is the champion Colorado Latinos deserve
Denver, CO – Today, The LIBRE Initiative Action, a political group committed to supporting candidates who want to advance freedom-minded solutions, officially announced its endorsement of Congressman Gabe Evans for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.
In a district where the Latino vote is decisive, LIBRE Action is highlighting Evans’ proven track record of showing up, listening, and delivering on the issues that matter most to the community: healthcare access, economic competitiveness, and financial dignity.
Key Points: The Latino Vote in CO-08:
- District 08 is not only the most diverse in Colorado but is also a textbook “swing” district where every percentage point will matter.
- In 2024 Gabe Evans who his election by approximately 2,449 votes.
- Latinos make up roughly 38.5% of the district’s total population (the highest concentration in Colorado).
- In 2024, while the Democratic incumbent slightly won most of the Latino vote (nearly 56%), Evans made significant inroads compared to previous GOP candidates. Evans successfully cut into the traditional Democratic lead in heavy-Latino areas like Adams County.
Gabe Evans has been a champion by:
- Bridging the Health Care Gap: Evans was a primary leader of the SPEAK Act, a bipartisan victory recently signed into law. The act ensures that telehealth services are accessible to those with limited English proficiency, a life-changing win for millions of Latinos who previously faced language barriers when seeking medical care.
- A Champion for Financial Empowerment: Evans has been a constant presence in the community. He has shown to listen and discuss the policy solutions that empower our community, and all communities, toward a more affordable economy.
- Boosting U.S. Competitiveness: He fought to pass legislation to bring back capitol from foreign countries as well as supported permitting reform to protect our districts high paying energy jobs and ensure we have American energy dominance.
- Deep Roots in the District: Understanding the unique needs of CO-08, a district with one of the most significant Latino populations in the state, Evans has focused on pro-growth policies that lower the cost of living and expand educational opportunity.
Sandra Benitez, Senior Advisor for LIBRE Action issued the following statement:
“Gabe Evans doesn’t just talk about the Hispanic community, he is part of it, he shows up for it, and he delivers for it. Whether it’s passing the SPEAK Act to ensure language is never a barrier to healthcare or fighting to keep America competitive on the global stage, Gabe understands that the American Dream requires work and principled leadership. CO-08 needs a representative who knows that when Latinos thrive, Colorado thrives. That leader is Gabe Evans.”
Angel Merlos, Advisor for LIBRE Action-CO, added:
“We have seen firsthand that Gabe Evans is a leader of action. Whether joining our community for town halls on financial empowerment or leading the charge in D.C., Gabe has proven he prioritizes pocketbook issues keeping families up at night. He understands that in Weld County—a national bastion of energy production—thousands of Latinos are the backbone of the industry that powers our state. By fighting for energy independence and lower costs, Gabe is fighting for our livelihoods. His leadership shows he is a serious steward of taxpayer dollars, working to root out waste and abuse to ensure these vital programs are preserved for our community’s most vulnerable.”
- The LIBRE Initiative Action stands ready to mobilize our grassroots army of volunteers to get-out-the-Latino-vote across the District for the November election. We stand ready to knock on doors, phone bank, hosts events, and run targeted bilingual ads.
- We are committed to supporting candidates who want to advance freedom-minded policies that promote the wellbeing and self-sufficiency of the Hispanic community and the nation.
- We believe candidates should stand for eliminating barriers to growth and innovation, trumpet educational achievement, protect the vulnerable, and encourage more participation of Latinos in our economy and communities. We believe that is the way to achieve the American Dream.
